Part 2 of a 3-part series on construction trends in Upland. First of all, congrats to everyone who has finished a build. Not every node needs to be in a Tier 1 city, and many of these communities in smaller cities are exploding. This article will look at the cities that round out the Top 10 in terms of completed builds to see which cities are worth your spark.
Fresno (October 2020 [link], Spark released Q1 2021 [link]) — 3419
Oakland (April 2021 [link], expansion December 2021[link]— 2909
Brooklyn (April 2021 [link])— 2707
Bakersfield (May 2021 [link])— 2024
New Orleans (October 2021 [link]) — 1263

Fresno (#3 overall in Upland):
Based on statistics from yesterday (thanks to Upland Data), the main action is in Roosevelt (197 completed builds, #10 neighborhood in Upland) and Woodward Park (160 completed builds, #13 neighborhood in Upland). I will upload a map when I can, but for some reason, Fresno is showing a bug on UplandOptimzer (a service that supplies the rest of the maps for these articles). Oakland (#4 overall in Upland):
The clear leader in Oakland is Glenview, Loyldoyl’s node. The secondary centers include Piedmont, Rockridge, Upper Rockridge, Mossvale, and Harbor Bay Isle. If anywhere is going to emerge from the Berkeley expansion, it is Berkeley Hills.
Brooklyn (#5 overall in Upland):
Still maintaining its spot ahead of LA, Brooklyn rounds of the top five. Red Hook node is the clear leader here. All of the dark blue and medium blue have significant stock, and many neighborhoods could push into the №2 spot with some concerted effort.
Bakersfield (#7 overall in Upland):
This city has more completed builds than Manhattan and earns the №7 spot in Upland. The clear leader in Bakersfield is The Oaks, with Vonola, Oleander/Sunset, Tyner Homes, Quailwood, and West Bakersfield having a decent amount of hosing stock.
New Orleans (#9 overall in Upland):
The French Quarter stands out, with other areas downtown like the CBD, Central City, Lower Ninth, Little Woods, and Red Blvd East having a decent presence in the city. NB: One neighborhood in Chicago (Portage Park) has more completed construction than NOLA or KC has in total. Sunset (Inner and Outer) also exceeds the number of completed builds in both cities.
Kansas City (#10 overall in Upland):
There are two main areas of construction — Shoal Creek and Gladstone. When community collections come out, there may be more construction in KC but new cities will challenge their place in the top ten of the Upland Metaverse.
The takeaway:
Not every neighborhood is going to be built up in every city, yet the leading neighborhoods will benefit once Upland introduces community collections. These collections will most likely benefit all cities and not just the largest ones, so the best strategy is to build where the community is in your fav city.
